Local Wholefood Café says;
“ The proposed factory farming of dairy cows is a Black and White issue”
On Wednesday, September 28th the Herb Garden Cafe, Llandrindod Wells, will be hosting a charity 'Not in My Cuppa' tea party from 3.00pm to 5.00pm to raise funds for the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) campaign to oppose the factory farming of dairy cows.
These units are based on the US models where 1000s of dairy cattle spend their truncated lives indoors, never seeing daylight or eating grass. So far there have been two applications to build such 'farms' in this country, one in Lincolnshire and one in Welshpool, Montgomeryshire.
Head Chef Sarah Palmer said, “At the Herb Garden Café we pride ourselves on good food that doesn’t ‘cost the earth’ or inflict unnecessary suffering on sentient creatures. These dairy units are one step too far for cows and we will actively seek milk from other sources should they come on stream.”
Dorienne Robinson, Sous Chef said, "The event at the Cafe will be a black and white party to show solidarity with our Fresian sisters, yey! So, please come dressed appropriately, anything as long as it is black and white. We are expecting some comprehensive media coverage and the media team from WSPA will be attending to cover the party for their publications”
To tempt you the team will be baking fresh on the day: cupcakes, little cheesy scones, scones with jam and cream, perfect little sandwiches...egg and cress, salmon and cucumber..., delightful little tray bakes of sticky ginger and lemon drizzle. They also have an amazing variety of teas to complement the nibbles.
There is no entry charge but donations of over £5 per person would be welcomed.
To enhance the event Daisy the pantomime cow will be present to make her case for keeping our Fresians out of factories and in the fields. Loyal and whacky members of staff will take a break from baking sumptuous delights to run a raffle and a 'pin the tail on the cow' competition. Between now and then I'm sure they will come up with a few more whacky ideas for your enjoyment and to separate you from your sheckels for this very serious campaign!
Please tell everyone you know about the party and put it in your diaries now! You know what they say..."Be there or be square"
Remember...Wednesday, September 28th from 3.00pm to 5.00pm
